    *portable
    *rechargeable battery about 10 hours
    *reasonably loud
*I listen to heavy metal allot enough bass for me.
*remove the iphone/ipod it shuts off.
*dock has enough room for my Iphone 4 with the case on!
    *works fine with Pandora etc.
*bought mine used on ebay for about $60 :D

I've found the Sony iDevice docks have superior sound to all other docks. It's pretty much obvious when you hear them side by side.

Yes, it works great with my iPhone 4. As for it being overkill for a small room, it has an adjustable EQ so you can tweak it until you get the sound that you like.

Absolutely this. I've just bought the Sony SRS-GU10ip for £60 over here in the UK but Amazon have it for $105. It is so so bassy and sounds absolutely stunning for the price. Completely compatible with my iP4 as well.

$300 could get you the Audyssey dock which I highly recommend. You can find a $100 off code.
Best bass performance I've ever heard.

I purchased the Bose Sounddock Portable system. It was $300. Truly an amazing sound experience. Plus it is very portable with a rechargable battery pack that lasts for a surprisingly long time. It is fully compatible with the iPhone 4...and I use it with my case on.
