Hopefully it is the 1 ghz chip. Also any know exactly what the gyro will add? The acelerometer was already crazy sensitive.

For me if the iphone 4 comes with 512mb, I might consider it. But if its only 256mb, im going to wait till the next iteration... The camera and screen arent that appealing for me at the moment...

I assume you agree with this. Yeah, why tell us about important details of your product so that we can make intelligent choices. Just buy it!

If it works well - which it will - it shouldn't matter.

It's all about whether it works well or not when it comes to mobile devices running iOS.

When you start talking about video editing, ACAD work, ProTools mixing, etc, in a desktop system, then yeah, specs become more of an issue

hmmm I would really hope they gave it a spec bump. But Steve not saying "OMG its magically 2x as fast!" kinda worries me :(

well the 3gs already is pretty speedy. its like having a quad core pc and a dual core pc. The quad core is not going to open the my computer folder any faster then the dual core.

I doubt Apple increased the RAM. However, they are most likely running the A4 at full speed (1GHz). They increased the battery by 16% and only got an hour longer of wifi browsing.

The A4 is either a 32 or 45nm chip, either way it is more power efficient than the 65nm A8 in the 3GS. There is no way we would see such minimal gains in battery life if the A4 were underclocked.

No, it's about how DEVELOPERS can use the extra CPU cycles / RAM to write better apps. And it's about the consumers knowledge of the potential of that.

256MB RAM (thats why 3G cant handle all OS 4 goodies and 3GS can) and 800MHz is the speed(31% faster than 3Gs 600Mhz * .31 = 186, 600 + 186 = 786 they may be nice and round to 800 though.....remember Apple is not like other companies they wont give you that much for your money

RAM was confirmed to be at 512mb by one of the Apple engineers at WWDC. It was on the homepage a while back. I'll see if I can find the link.

As far as CPU is concerned, the A4 is a 1ghz chip. The only thing that hasn't been confirmed is if it's down-clocked like previous CPU's used in older iPhone's.

EDIT: I just realized I responded to an old speculation thread, crap. Either way, blrossjr79, you are incorrect. It is confirmed to be 512mb.

I'm still wondering where the heck he's pulling 31% from.
