    hello all,
I am brand new to iphone and would like to know if you all might have some advice or suggestions to help me move some text messages/videos to my laptop. I am not a computer whiz, so the simpler the better. Is there a program that could help me do this, rather than doing it manually? Thank you very much in advance.

    Kat

    Videos you can Email.

Text Messages what I do is take a screen capture (Press the home button and the lock button at the same time)

You won't get the entire conversation but that's a good way to get 2-4 text.

After you take the pic, just email it to yourself.

When you backup the iPhone, they are stored inside the backup. There are applications that let you extract them from the backup (which I think it just an SQLite database) and store them in a text based format on your computer.

I don't use Windows, so you'll have to Google for an application that can decode backups.

You can use iPhone Backup Extractor and SQLite Database Browser and you won't have to submit them online.
