Iphone 4 UK: Bye bye Vodafone!

I've just been told by my friendly Vodafone guy that he has been given strict instructions not to give out microsims at all to customers who have bought their own unlocked iphone 4's from Apple. He's also been told not to carry out any sim swaps for people who may already have unactivated ipad sims.

This can only be because they want to charge a premium to use the iphone 4 over any other handset, and because it uses a microsim they are able to do so.

If this policy doesn't change before UPS arrive tomorrow, I'm off!

Who else is going to leave Vodafone if they aren't allowed to use their own legally bought phone?

P.S. I know I could cut down my current sim, but that really isn't the point, I shouldn't have to!
 
In the U.S. at least that would be "Buh, buy." Old David Spader SNL bit.

Anyway, you could always cut your SIM down.
 
Wow. That's pretty terrible. I was just in the O2 Store at the O2 Arena and said to the guy "I've pre-ordered an iPhone 4 from Apple" and before I could finish he said "so you need a micro-SIM. Come over to the till". Scanned it, took a few details, printed a receipt (for £0.00) and that was it. Went on the O2 website (to a specific page they've setup) and filled in a few details. SIMs will be swapped within 24 hours.

The images I've seen of cut SIMs actually involve cutting into one side of the contacts for the chip a bit. Note the chip itself is a lot smaller than the gold contacts you can see so this does not cut the chip at all.

Not if it is a standard SIM. I thought as much when cutting me T-Mobile SIM to uSIM size - there is just enough for you to miss the metalic part

That's worth knowing, thank you, perhaps I'll give it a go anyway.
After all if it doesn't work, I'm moving carrier anyway. (I'm not in contract).

Yeah but they are expensive, don't support visual voicemail and if the rumour are true maybe about to stiff you even more to get a micro sim!

I do prefer iPhone on Vodafone but how much mistreatment from Vodafone is enough!
 
I've never had a drop call with Vodafone and people can always can get hold of me without any problems.
 
Vodafone are bang out of order, but I'll just be cutting my SIM card.

I've been with all of the other networks. For me, Vodafone are head and shoulders above the rest in terms of providing a service that just works (most of the time).

I ordered a 3 micro sim which has arrived and will be using it as a template to cut my Vodafone sim but ill still probably mess it up lol
 
I rang Vodafone again today and they said that they couldn't tell me if they would have a micro sim for me tomorrow, until tomorrow????

WTF!

How can they not know what they have with less than 24hrs to got.

It is really annoying me. I like Vodafone but this is starting to grate me!

I alos rang Apple UK and my local Apple store with similar comments!!!! :mad:

.....just tell me the truth!

Wasn't there an app for visual voicemail? I'm pretty sure there is, I just don't remember the name.

The new contracts on VF are as good as O2 now. I'll have £169 + £35 x 18months. I'm going to pay £40 more than keep my PAYG for £15 a month + £499 over 18 months.
