What do you guys think of wallpapers that increase the brightness of the area where the status bar should be, so that on the iPhone it looks as if the status bar isn't there?

I think this is a promising idea because, I'll agree, on bright wallpapers the darkened status bar does help, but on the darker wallpapers it just looks straight up ugly sitting there.

I did some searching and actually found a tool for making transparent status bars: http://mail.jerrybeck.com/gd/

The tool definitely works; I've made some nice wallpapers with it. However, it isn't perfect. When I tried it out on this wallpaper: http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d122/plasticfrog/For_A_Thousand_Years_by_vaporizatio.jpg

The top of this wallpaper isn't too bright, so I don't think this is too impossible of a challenge. Does anyone think they can do a better job with it, while keeping it high res for the iP4?

P.S. Complete credit for the tool goes to user TechIsCool; thank you for this. If anyone makes any cool wallpapers using the tool, definitely post them up because I love the idea.
