They are already sized correctly for the retina display so there isn't really anything we can do about the quality of the pictures.

The only versions of it I found as wallpaper were for the 3GS. I did, however, through a bit of digging find an original large enough that someone may be able to resize it. I'm away from Photoshop right now, so hopefully someone else can take the next step.

I'm no Photoshop expert, but I removed the background the best I could on the first image, and made it a light grey, to blend in best with the rest of the image.

On your second image, since it's already almost retina size, I just kept the image the same size, to retain it's image quality, and increased the canvas size to 640x960. The image is positioned to sit just on top of the bottom toolbar, so none of the image is blocked by it.
