Wondering if there was a way to know if an iphone 4 has the 1.59.00 baseband before i unboxed it. I wanna purchase one that is sealed but before i buy it i wannna know if it has the 1.59.00 baseband. which iphone 4 were sold with the 1.59.00 baseband?? could i tell with imei what the production date was?? any help is appreciated.

Yes there is a way with Serial number, but good luck with that cuz I heard they have been out for a long time already. Since iPhone sells really fast and I will be surprised if 1 of the store still have older iPhone stocks.
 
@eastercat: i tried what u suggested and no luck. can u post a link of what u have come across??
 
It will had to be sitting there for over a year unopened and untouched.
The 4.0, 4.0.1 and 4.0.2 where the only firmware with the 01.59.00 BB
Chances are very very very slim you will find a sealed iphone with that old firmware preinstalled.

The only iPhone 4s that were sold with the 1.59.00 baseband were sold in June-July area (of 2010) and have most likely already been updated by the owners. The only iPhone 4s I've seen personally that still have the 1.59.00 baseband are display models in wireless stores and Futureshop. If you're looking to get one unlocked, just buy one from an Apple store.
