Where's the best place to keep an eye on updates about an unlock for 4.11.08?
Are any reliable devs officially working on one that I can follow on twitter or something?
At this point I have no clue who is actually officially working on it.

What do you think about this guide?

I've tried it to unlock my iPhone 4 using this guide, but stucked at step 9. Do you think it's real software unlock or complete fake?

Some time ago, Apple dramatically reduced the amount of baseband code in their firmware updates.
In addition to this, they have improved their ability to find and remove the exploits previously used for baseband crashes.
So, this is why there has not been a new software unlock since baseband 1/59.xx (almost 2 years ago)
Anyone who thinks that there will be a sudden software unlock released for the basebands not covered by Ultrasn0w is just hoping against hope.
It has been rumored that a sim interposer solution for 4.11.xx is in the works.
Time will tell.
There has not been an unlock by software methods but there has been an unlock via interposer. If your statement was true, you would think that they would have patched the baseband for iPhone 4S or the newest 4.11. software. It seems it's about to be broken once again by the gevey people.
Can you guys not phone the carriers to get the phones unlocked? Here in the UK the carriers can unlock the phone. o2 for example require that on PAYG the phone has £15 of credit on it, or on Contract be 3 months into the contract.
I had a factory o2 locked handset and filled out the form on the o2 website and got a text a few days later telling me to put a different SIM in and plug into iTunes. Did that, and now the phone is unlocked and accepts any SIM card (hot swappable).
Does this option not exist in the US?
This thread should be locked.
There's no point discussing about software unlock options (like ultrasn0w) for any iPhone that came out after June/July 2010. That's getting close to two years now!!!
There's currently no Gevey unlock for baseband versions above 4.10.01. If you have a new iPhone bought after June 24, 2011, you're totally out of luck for Gevey (like) unlock options too.
