Yes I was thinking on doing that because I don't live in the US, but I have to know where can I buy the iPhone 4 for sure!

Since you don't life in the US how about getting on in Europe or NZ, Aussi etc. they all sell them simlock free.
I can confirm this. At least for the 5th Ave. Store in NYC.
