Iphone 4 Wont back up or sync to itunes 10

Hi.
just wondering if anyone can help. i am pulling my hair out.

i upgraded to itunes 10 and since doing so have not been able to update my iphone 4. when i plug my iphone in itunes recognises it but just freezes on step 1 of 5 backing up.
i have left it for hours and it doesnt budge.

it does say when i plug my phone in that a new update is available and if i click continue it says that i have unbacked up content which should be backed up before i upgrade, ive tried clicking continue and later with the same result of itunes freezing.
im running windows 7.
any help would be greatly appreicated.

I HAD the same problem.

Tried everything.
The solution was - uninstall itunes completely. then reinstall.
That should do it! It worked for me.

nope..
i still have had no luck. i have uninstalled itunes twice.
i am able to back up my ipod (3yrs old) and i was able to back up my ipad recently, but still no luck with my iphone. when i sync my iphone with my house mates computer it backs up fine.

its really annoying me that i can sync and back up my ipod but not my iphone, but it syncs fine on another computer.
i might try resotring the phone and see what happens.
i wil let you know.
please may you notify me if you find a solution to this?\
