My iPhone recently has ceased to play music through it's speakers. It counts for YouTube videos, iTunes, Spotify but not ringtones or text tones.

I have a feeling it's to do with the dock connection. I used to use it on a docking station, so I tried again and the audio would work again but only for 5 seconds. Each time I reconnect and disconnect from the docking station, the speakers (on the phone) would again work for only 5 seconds.

Things I've already tried;

  • Cleaned out the dock connection
  • Updated to lastest iOS
  • Clean Reset of iPhone
  • Connected to different chargers
  • Made sure the phone is NOT switched to silent 😉

Maybe one of you had a similar issue and found a fix?

Thanks in advance!

Probably hardware - damage to dock connector quite likely if you've already ruled out fluff in there causing a short. Just fixed mine with same issue, ordered a new dock connector online for like £5 an fitted in 20 min. Perfect now!
