Iphone 4s 64GB..MEMORY!?

I recently bought an iphone 4s 64GB. People are saying G4GB is a waste of money...to much memory?
I went ahead and bought it not knowing how much it can really hold and I still dont know.
Can someone PLEASE give me some insight onto how big an Iphone 4s 64GB really is??
I have 22 songs, 2 movies, 28 apps and 148 pictures. I am wondering how much more it will hold before it explodes or becomes extremely slow :confused:
 
64GB is going to be way too much for you. a 16GB iPhone would be perfect. As for your iPhone slowing down due to too much stuff, that's a myth.

impossible to discern. Every app/song is a different size. Apps especially. Songs vary based on quality of the song and length. Apps are just dependant on what it is.

Your best bet is to go to settings > general > about and check your memory. Keep in mind an average song is 3-5MB and apps can be whatever. You have 64GB so just put stuff on and don't worry about it until you can't put stuff on anymore.

Google it. Ask how many songs can 64GB hold and then ask the others to get an idea. I have a little over 1200 songs on mine and im only using 4.8 GB.

How are we supposed to know how many of those things it can hold. Do a search.

Capacity: 57.4 GB
Avalible: 53.7GB

Still so confused at how big the 64GB actually is.
 
1GB = 1,024MB
64GB = 65,536MB
Let's say each song is 6MB
That's 65,536MB divided by 6MB
So that's = 10,922 songs @ 6MB per song.

What's to be confused about? The size after formatting, OS partitioning, and system files is 57.4GB.
 
It sounds like the OP doesn't know what megabytes or gigabytes are. I think the question is outside of the iPhone-specific realm and more on a general level...

I think the OP is expecting a simple answer to a simple (sounding) question and does not realize that it's a bit more complex and requires some further understanding of the fundamentals of storage capacity.
 
It just depends how big the songs and movies are. The better quality stuff will take up more room. I have 4822 songs on my 64gb iPhone and that equals 29.2GBs. Those are mostly 320kbps mp3s but some are 192. If you have a bunch of 128 mp3s it will hold a lot more. I have 2815 photos and 155 videos and that is 10.6 GBs. Mostly the videos are short clips I took on my iPhone 4 and 4s. The pics are from all my iPhones (3g, 3gs, 4, and 4s) so they range in size. I have 40 apps but they list the app sizes separately and I don't feel like adding it up. It looks like it’s around 3GBs but again it depends on the apps. With all that I still have 14.7 GB available on my phone (out of 57.4GB). The only reason I got the 64 was because I have a lot of music and I never want to delete my pictures.
 
By the time you get even remotely close to running out of space you'll know how big 64gb is. ie a very long time, maybe never.

57.4 GB you can use. Currently there's 53.7 GB of free space, so you are currently using 3.7 GB of space.

No worries, there's more than enough left.
 
You're using 3.7 GB of space... or roughly just under 6.5%.

Basically, (assuming they're all about the same size) you could have 15x more apps, songs, pictures, and videos on your phone before you run out of space.

You should be fine.

Well, it's not going to explode. It is also not going to become extremely slow. iOS doesn't handle its stored data that way. With 22 songs and 28 apps though, you went overkill on the storage capacity. The average app is a couple hundred megabytes, some getting as large as 2GB (but those are mapping apps and games with a great deal of 3D graphics). I would suspect you are somewhere around the 2GB mark. As with all "reported" storage capacity, one should estimate about 10% of that is not actually accessible to the user. Part of this is because of the space the OS takes up, and part of it is due to the different ways we calculate GB.

If it helps, think of it this way. Take what you have stored on your phone now and multiply that by about twenty. Yes TWENTY. That's about what it take for you to hit max capacity.
 
i have the 64gb.....
4 movies
650 songs
400 short videos taken (30 seconds to 1 min. long)
1500 photos
100 apps....
Still have 23GB left

Don't freak out...you have plenty of space to put whatever you want on your phone....

this is a collection of 5 years of space....i'm bad at deleteing...but its worth it to me because i have photos of all the good times on my phone and it is worth way more than what the phone costs....just make sure you back it up on your computer!

Enjoy your phone and don't let people tell you its a waste of $...its only a waste if you don't use the space.
