I am buying 32GB next time around. I have a 64GB, and am nowhere close to filling it. I think 32GB will be perfect for me.

Same here..I thought I was all cool getting a 64 GB but I'm not even close to filling it up.
I recently noticed that I had over 11 GB in my camera roll so I decided to just put those on my computer-no reason to keep over a year worth of pictures on there. Now I'm well below 32GB. Definitely downgrading the storage this Fall.

My iphone in settings..general..about says:
Capacity: 57.4 GB
Avalible: 53.7GB

Still so confused at how big the 64GB actually is.

Available capacity is 57.4 GB, which equals 64 GB in the SI. That's normal, the market bases on SI.
Some of that space is taken by the OS, some other by your content. No confusion at all.

Actually, 64 GB ≈ 59.6 GiB.

Also, when the iPhone says that the available capacity is 57.4 GB, I'm assuming that it's 57.4 billion bytes, not 57.4 GiB ≈ 61.6 billion bytes. Am I wrong?

My statement is, indeed, wrong.
The flash size is 64 GB. The correct conversion leads to 59.604 GiB, and iOS reports this size minus the space taken by the firmware and OS. That means that you have 57.4*2^30 available bytes (57.4 GiB = 61.64 GB).

The problem OP is you don't suggest how big the Apps are.

If they are 20-50mb then yes you'll get well over 100.

If they are approaching 1 gb in size then obviously not.

A decently ripped blu-ray to 720p movie in handbrake will be maybe 1.5gb in size.

3552 songs, 102 videos, 2119 photo's, 86 Apps and still have 11GB free on my 64 GB iPhone 4S. I love having plenty of space :)

Wow that's really too much for your needs. Well, I guess you could make up for that extra space by downloading more movies and apps?

One thing a lot of people don't think about is the space needed if you want to use your iPhone as a video camera. Taking 1080p video does take up a lot of space. If you're often recording the kids (like I am), the space is definitely worth it. That's the reason I always upgrade to at least one size larger than my normal data fills :D

I recently bought an iphone 4s 64GB. People are saying G4GB is a waste of money...to much memory?
I went ahead and bought it not knowing how much it can really hold and I still dont know.
Can someone PLEASE give me some insight onto how big an Iphone 4s 64GB really is??
I have 22 songs, 2 movies, 28 apps and 148 pictures. I am wondering how much more it will hold before it explodes or becomes extremely slow

It is a waste, let's say if you have more than 50GB left. Always leave around 1-1.5GB on the phone for performance, etc. I have a 16GB, I have 800 songs, around 55 apps, 20 videos and 300+ pictures and I still have 2.5GB left!

Maybe even downgrade to a 32 gig if you still can but to be honest if you consume a lot of media (music, movies) or even plan do download a lot of apps, AND plan on keeping the phone for a few years then the space is totally worth it.

You have to judge your space needs on what you plan on doing with the phone. If the above is correct I say keep it ;)

Better to have the space and not need it than need it and not have the space OP.
