'iPhone 4S' Casing Resembles iPhone 4 with Some Antenna Changes

I could see this happening, and it coincides with other rumors: iPhone 4, as we know it, becomes the cheaper iCloud phone, but in a new 4S flavor (goodbye old iPhone 4). Then, they release the new phone to replace the $199 and $299 iPhone 4s - the new iPhone 5. It makes sense to me. And as far as Apple's concerned, they've then filled the "cheap" phone avenue with this redesigned iPhone 4S (with better battery, antenna, and display?), and you've released the mouth-watering new iPhone 5 that people are hoping for. Thoughts?

Interesting how the only 'leaked' parts of the next iPhone are consistently being stated as for a cheap iPhone 4S! People refusing to accept the fact that this could be the next iPhone full stop? I have yet to see any iPhone 5 casings etc......

A cheaper iPhone 4 (whether they call it the S or not) doesn't mean cheaper quality, but cheaper to produce and more profitable for Apple.
The success of the 3GS at $49 is a testament to how people are blinded by the purchase cost and don't consider the monthly cost of owning an iPhone.
What would happen if the iPhone 4 was dropped, replaced by an even faster phone, but still $99 and slow compared to a new iPhone 5? The cheapest iPhone would be better than last years model.
And if they were all world phones...

What's your problem? I was implicitly questioning the accuracy of those claims, the idea that the other new form factor is definitely the iPhone 5 and that this is a 4S. Can you read...or write?

So I finally caved in and registered just to say that the iPhone I have right in front of me - from the UK - has the antenna breaks in exactly the same place (and one to the right of the headphone jack).
So this isn't 'new'.

My guess is the difference between iphone 4 and 4s will be a GSM and CDMA with multiple frequencies.
What I'm trying to say, to be more clear, is that I could see them making improvements to the "cheaper" iPhone 4 that would qualify it for an "S" moniker. We've heard about a cheaper plastic back. They could offset the cost of a wider display, or more RAM. And, at the same time, they are making up for the bad antenna with a fix in this new design. It would be an improved iPhone 4, or 4S. And it's big brother would be the iPhone 5.

They won't introduce a 4s and a 5.
1- new product confusion. Apple typically makes it easy to decide what to buy
2- if they give the 4s a better screen, battery life, etc, what is left for the 5 without making it too expensive?

I really hope it's like the recent rumors have indicated. Slim, tapered, rounder, bigger screen in the same size footprint.
If it's the same form factor as the 4 I'll be disappointed. I'll still buy one and sell my 4 to pay for it, but I hope for a rounder shape.
I really don't like calling this an 'iPhone 4S'. Is it a modification of an iPhone 4? Sure. But it will have all of the same features as iPhone 4, save that it is going to be a cheaper to build phone. I also think that they are going to make it multi-technology capable (GSM and CDMA) for business/economic reasons: less parts floating around.
Ouch. This is a rumor. That means that there's no telling for 100% sure what exactly it is. There's nothing wrong with saying 'I hope this is not the iPhone5" which is the same as saying "I hope this IS the iPhone4S and not the OTHER new iPhone".

Nah. Time for a capacity bump. 64 should be on offer. Hopefully 32 as the min. I am kinda tired of 16 GB being my phone
Actually, yes, you're right! If you flipped over that shot, then zoomed out slightly i think it is the same part. Even down to the 2 diagonal holes that spot weld the small square plate in place.
Actually the (second place) success of the 3GS proves exactly the opposite. If people were really blinded by purchase price and ignoring quality, the cheaper 3GS would sell more than the 4X more expensive 4. But it doesn't.
