hi, legends say it is necessary to charge the Iphone 4S for 12 hours before use it for the first time to maximize the lifespan of the battery. Is it true? Now I've JUST got the my new Iphone 4S , I haven't charged it yet it still has half of the battery . Do I have to discharge it first and then recharge it? Or should I stop using it right now and charge it for 12 hour first?

You don't have to worry about this. With older batteries, that was the case, but Apple just recommends doing one full power cycle per month to keep the battery healthy (run from full power to zero power and back to full again).

newer batteries don't have any charging memory so even letting it drain down until it dies wont do anything
