Has anybody else noticed this? Or have I missed a trick?

But now, on either side of the input we have 2 extra additions of coating? Does anybody know why this is?

The Apple headphones are notorious for breaking at that stress point, so they added those rubber pieces to help it to not stretch/break.
 
You know, I looked at my headphones just last night and said to myself, "was this always there?"
 
My 4 month old 4S came with the ones shown in the last pictures.


Did you buy your earbuds separate?

Actually just realized I'm still using my headphones from my iPhone 4 and my 4S ones are probably still in the box so they may have the different design afterall:cool:
