Iphone 4s in AT&T Stores - when?

I got mine (a 16 gig) from my AT&T store in central Illinois about a month ago. Apparently there were like 2 people on a reserve list and they got a few phones like 3 days after I went in and told them to call me when they had one. I was pretty surprised to be honest.

Well BillyCuth I'm in a similar boat as you in that I'm tied down to one store and have to wait for the phone to be in stock to purchase it. I called today and asked them when they expected to have walk in purchases available, the guy told me sometime next week but that was subject to change. This was in Northern Virginia by the way. If your hear anything let us know.

I absolutely will. I love my family for getting us gift cards, but dang ATT sucks with this policy!

The AT&T store here said they are only doing orders for them.

I don't know if thats because they don't want to deal with it or what. The RadioShack here said they are still getting a few each week, which really surprised me.

Well, the assistant manager of the store I have the exception in said they expect stock this month, just not sure when. He made the mistake of giving me his card with an email on it... I have no issues being a pest.

Unfortunately I haven't got the answer I am looking for yet!!!

I had a similar problem. My line was messed up and so I needed the AT&T store manager to do a manual override to restore my eligibility thus locking me into that ONE AT&T store. But for "pre-orders" aka direct fulfillment I could only pay with a credit card which I didn't have.

So to answer your question. You are either going to need and wait. Or you can try redeeming the gift card for cash but you will still need to pay with a credit card if the store doesn't have any iPhones in stock; So that may not be a better option for you.

P.S. To redeem a gift card for cash you just need to find someone at the AT&T store who is paying cash. Then offer to pay with your gift card in exchange for their money.

I doubt anyone would be interested and I don't have the time or inclination to try that. Much easier to be a pain in the butt until I get an answer of when. I just find it incredibly hard to believe that ATT stores do not know when they will be stocking the phone again. I also cannot believe they didn't tell my sister about this little rule about using gift cards for an Iphone 4 that wasnt in stock when she went to buy the damn things for us. I could have had my phones by now since I would have ordered on July 16!
