Wow.

Where does violence like this come from, or I suppose more to the point, how do we remove it from society? Initially, I figured we as a species need to promote stronger family ties so that people don't feel the need to join gangs, but then I remembered family feuds and such. I suppose everyone needs to be able to learn how to forgive each other (that doesn't mean forgetting they've wronged you in the past... you can still not trust them, but you should decide not to escalate the violence.)

it's astonishing how a neutral, a social message is downgraded by users of MR. wow!

Just make the phones cost $2500 so Apple makes the scalper's money, and I'm sure there would still be some scalping anyway. Kind of like Broadway shows where producers were tired of scalper's making so much that to see a hit show like Book of Mormon costs $400 unless you order 6 month's in advance and want crappy seats.

Wow, I like how this post got a ton of 'dislikes'.

Whoever you are, you guys need to pull your heads out of your asses.

And to answer you AOW, this violence comes from desire. All suffering comes from desire. Curb the desires and you'll realize that suffering (not pain) is optional.

Some people, like those at Apple, make money by creating products and services which make people's lives easier, or more productive, or more fun; and profit as a result.

Then there are people like these scalpers, who make money by inserting themselves as unwanted middle-men; adding no value, but just hiking up the price for the end user. Parasites, in other words.

If eggs were thrown at them, I hope they were several weeks rotten and smelt vile.

Right. Just like banks and real-estate brokers. Nothing unusual in that. And FTR, I agree with you on your last line as well ;)

I wonder if Apple can't raise prices too high for the iPhone due to fear the Chinese government might get annoyed. There is a lot of precedent that the Chinese government does not like it when their citizens give large amounts of money to non-Chinese companies. I'm not saying Chinese citizens don't buy from Western companies all the time in certain ways (I've been to China a few times and am well aware of how affluent its coastal cities are). But if Apple were to raise prices to $2,000 and the phone still sold, well that might draw the negative attention of the Chinese government and they might step in to "protect" their citizens (and their balance of trade). But cash going from one Chinese citizen to a Chinese scalper, well no problem there; the money stays in the country and Apple just gets a good but not outrageous profit.
