Recently, my 4S has been having problems with the lock button requiring extra pressure to unlock. Sometimes it takes 3-4 presses for it to unlock. Currently I am still under Apple's 1 year warranty. I am going to give them a call today considering my closet store is 2 hours away. What should I expect? A fix, refurb or replacement? Should I not even bother calling Verizon about it?

Apple replaces iPhones with this kind of problems when under warranty.
Over time dust collects between two metal plates inside the button. The dust can be cleaned with alcohol and button works like new again but this require disassembly of the whole iPhone and peeling off little clear tape that holds both plates together. And of course button can be replaced with aftermarket part but original is always better. You can also apply some alcohol on the top of the button and hope the it will flow thru small cracks inside and move dust particles away from contact point.
