iPhone 4S side volume button issue

The button to raise the volume on the side of my iphone 4s stopped working; it does not click like the button to lower the volume does which still works. I also recently cracked my screen I am waiting on the new one to arrive and since I need to open the phone to replace the screen I wanted to ask how I could go about fixing the volume button
