It won't recognize the names of some of my hispanic friends :(

SIRIously though, they should fix this asap.

Anyone Else?

JK about the racist thing, but it really surprises me that Apple
could've forgotten about this. Not just Hispanic names....but
Portuguese ones as well...Not everyone is named John or Steve yanno

Hispanic is not a race.

BTW it doesn't recognize Chinese names either. Try "call xiaopeng" (if you can even pronounce that name correctly...)

Wasn't it widely published that Siri currently only supports English French and German??? I'm sure when Spanish is supported your friends' names will register.

It wasn't forgotten, it's just not implemented yet. Apple knows how many stores they have where the first language is not English, German, and French.

Yes. "Users may also change the language for Siri. At launch, the feature will come with built-in support for English, German and French. The software will be in beta at launch, with more languages and services to be added over time."

Sadly, it's no longer surprising how easily some people are offended and how quickly they toss around the accusation of racism. Then toss in the 'just kidding' phrase as camouflage. Perhaps the OP should sue Apple for only having black and white iPhones and no brown iPhones.

I had to change my own name on the phone. Doesn't surprise me, very few people can actually say my name right, didn't expect Siri to. :D

You can ask Siri to put your relationship in your info, so it will always know.

Goot thought, but that doesn't seem to be working. Asked to text wife, asks who wife is and I tell it. 10 minutes later, I ask to text wife again and again it asks who my wife is....

Disappointing

You know this is a Beta, right?

I really think a good majority of you make threads, without doing research..

I thought about same thing but remembered Apple's comment "Siri is Beta in the sense additional languages will be added in future". Did I misunderstood.

During the Keynote, dude said that this is a beta, and it still has issues.. Also, with the full release, it'll support more languages, features, and additional commands/responses.

If you say text my wife for the 1st time it will ask who your wife is. You tell it and it is supposed to remember. Not doing that

Yea but it doesn't recognize her name so that is not going to work for me. It keeps saying I don't understand "Sorry" which is not what I was saying. I tried several ways to say it but still no luck.

in contacts you can specify a phonetic field... which im assuming means you can spell the name how it sounds and possibly siri will work?

For those trying to do the name/relationship thing: go to your contact, Edit, then at the bottom, add a field, choose "spouse". Add their name. Then maybe, "call spouse"?

Yep had to change my wife's name to just wife instead of her name.

Just think about how difficult it can be for some of the old school Mormons in Utah :) They can't just name it "Wife." I guess the could say Wife #1 etc. I bet they call them their bottom B hahaha
