So I was going through my gadget closet and I found this Iphone 4s I had. I connect it to power supply and it shows "Connect to iTunes" picture.

I am sure something tragic happened to it long time ago that is why I gave up on it but I can't remember what exactly.

Just for an experiment sake I want to see if I can restore it and make it work somehow.

What I have tried so far :-
1. Connected it to iTunes and it says Restore/Update.
2. I downloaded IOS 8.4 from iclarified and tried to Shift/Restore it. Gave me error 3194. "the iphone cannot be restored an unknown error occurred 3194."
3. Tried to do Winscp or iFunbox on it and 'No device connected'. Also I dont know the IP address so Winscp won't work. Am i right ?
4. Downloaded the newest ios 9.1 and tried to restore it. Same error. "the iphone cannot be restored an unknown error occurred 3194."
5. Last thing I was reading up was about DFU mode and then try Restore.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

You have to restore to the latest signed version.

Neither 8.4 nor 9.1 are the latest version - and therefore are no longer signed.

Ok I did the restore and this time I did not Shift/ Click.
I still got the same error 3194.

1. I downloaded Pangu8_v1.2.1 and tried to Restore to ios 8.4 and 9.1 and it gave me the error
"Apple TSS Server returned an exception."

2. Another website said something about the 'host' file I replaced this file with the one that was provided on the website. But this did not help either.

3. Also another website said I can try TinyUmbrella and do something with 'Start a TSS server' but this program requires JRE java download. I downloaded JRE and installed it and TinyUmbrella still give error that it cant find JAVA on my laptop.

Something to do with TSS Server. This is my latest clue.

One website says..."Error 3194 can happen when there is an unrelated connectivity problem between the client and host server during an iOS upgrade or restore."

I don't know the other part. But JRE...
Try installing JDK instead?

Assuming then that your hosts file is not modified then try putting your phone in DFU mode and having iTunes restore it.

If that does not work, then my suggestion would be to try DFU mode on another computer.

Hell, you can take it to the Apple store and use one of their iMacs near the genius bar if you don't have access to any other computer.

Thank you all for the replies I really appreciate any help I can get. :)

I gave up on TinyUmbrella because I read on some site that this software was obsolete now.
I think a reboot got my Java install working.

1. I remember back when this iphone 4s first started acting this way I went to Apple store and they tried to conenct it to their laptop and DFU mode Restore it and they were unsuccessful.

2. I use a MAC laptop and I tried the Restore on Bootcamp side and it gave me error 3194 (As I mentioned in the original post), then yesterday I logged onto the MAC side of this laptop and did the Restore to the latest IOS 9.3.2 and it gave me error 48 which essentially means delete everything in the /user/library/itunes/ipod software/ and delete the ipsw. file in it and make itunes re-download the IOS 9.3.2 and try again. This gave me error 48 over and over.

Maliu @
Updated the itunes to latest
Got the latest ios 9.3.2
Copied the host file from the site.
Disabled iTunesHelper
Disabled Antivirus AVG Free Ed.

And now I get a different error (2009)

Should I just give up on this iphone ?
I feel like there must be a solution to this somewhere.
