Plugged it in for a charge and set my usual alarms last night, but woke up 30 minutes late to notice that my iPhone had turned off automatically.

Furthermore, holding down the power button didn't turn it on. Instead, I had to hold down the power and home buttons for it to respond. Any ideas as to what's going on?

    iPhone 5 powering off

I have had my iPhone 5 for a month and it just started doing the same thing. Powering off, resulting of no alarm going off and I was late for work. Also twice now, plugged in to charge and won't do anything at all. Did you get any answers??

Take it to an Apple store get it checked out, could be a faulty battery.
