as long as its a verizon iphone 5, it is factory unlocked and the IMEI should be clear for overseas service. a sprint iphone 5 will need to be unlocked first.

If its Sprint then its NO.

Correct but its wont be unlocked on its own like the Verizon one and the unlock can be pretty costly.
