I took my phone in and he said the hardware was fine. I insisted on a new phone anyway just to be safe. I saved all my pictures before going to apple store. I only backed up my icloud contacts and then redownloaded all my apps, which was very liberating to not download half the crap that was on the phone. Since I did that I have had amazing battery life. I am at 97% right now with light usage and texting and I have had the phone on for 1.5 hours, before when I wasnt even touching it I was losing 8% an hour. Clean install is the way to go for sure!!

I dont know if it was the new phone or the way I started over, but something worked and my battery life is better then I could have ever imagined..

On a sidenote my bluetooth distance increased on the new device too.

I'm about half way through my day, and i've probably got 1.5 hours of usage on the device with 60% battery remaining...So it doesnt look like any sort of drastic improvement.

Back the phone goes to :apple:

What were you getting before for battery life?

Awful, I would be at like 90% after being at work for 30 minutes and my phone would be really hot without any use. It would drop 8-10% without even touching it for an hour, because I did a test. I knew there was definitely something wrong when on the drive to the Apple Store and stopping for dinner my phone dropped 15% with ZERO use and my wifes dropped 4% with heavy usage.

The first one I setup as brand new and then restored from backup on computer. The second one I setup brand new and used icloud which I only synced up my contacts and then redownloaded apps. Maybe try that technique first and see how it works. If that doesn't fix it ask for a new phone, they wont say no. I can now keep my email push on and notifications on.

My phone usage right now is 58 minutes, and 4 hours standby. I do have cellular connection off because I work in a cell dead zone, but it has only dropped to 94% and I have done some mms texting.

I didn't save the screen shot, but I had like 7 hours of usage and 14 hours standby before it died on me before bed. That usage was watching videos, downloading on lte/wifi, streaming music. Opening my workout app to update, while streaming music and streaming the workout video to see technique. So pretty heavy usage.

So far your the third person I know to attest to that.. It seems to be hardware.. as hard as it is to beleive with all these people having "hardware" problems.. but I can't think of anything else. I have done eveything imaginable to get my phone to get good battery life.. trust me all of it.. this DFU restore option was the last thing I said that might work (becuase it had some logic behind it). No Luck!

Tonight im going to the Apple Store.. I will keep you peeps updated Tommorow!

My battery finally died so now to charge it up fully from that. I had about 4hr and 50 minutes on usage time. I took it off the charger at about 6:30 this morning. I had listened to about 3hrs of radio and then some web/phone call stuff. The last hr has been on wifi which is why I think it held on as long as it did. I think its a software thing. It was restored from a 4 and ios 5. My wifes phone is doing the same thing. If this doesn't work I try and full restore. we'll see how that goes. Otherwise I love the phone just shocked my 4 after 2 years has better battery.

Have you guys tried to do a "Reset All Settings"? Settings -> General -> Reset. It's the first option. I had the same battery issue and so did my wife and two of our friends. After doing a reset this fixed it for all of us. Note this is for people who restored from a backup and not those that started fresh. Those that started fresh and have the battery issue... you're ****ed.

I'm trying that now. I reset everything and set it up as a new iPhone and downloaded all my apps. Hopefully this will help.

I exchanged my phone at Apple yesterday, and so far the new phone is doing WAAAAY better.

I've gotten 1 hour 5 minutes of usage and am still at 90%. The replacement phone is a huge improvement over the original one i received.

Is that on LTE? who's your carrier?

Giving the reset a shot. Can't hurt. It def seems to be charging faster. It's as if I was barely keeping up when I was plugged in.
