My daughter has an iPhone 5 whose serial number is in the range that qualifies for the battery replacement program (checked on the Apple site). She also is having symptoms of a bad battery (phone quits after about 6 hours with battery percentage showing between 50%-70%).

She took the phone to an Apple store in NYC and the Genius said that the battery tested out just fine and didn't want to change out the battery. He attributed the symptoms to "other causes of battery instability." I'm thinking that this was the designated store Idiot rather than a Genius.

Am I being to harsh here? Can one insist on the battery change even if the folks at the Apple store say "Hey, your battery is just fine...something else is causing the bad battery symptom"?

I agree with you...just take it to someone else.

If the serial number is within range and is having battery issues then yes, you're entitled to a replacement battery. Book another appointment and if you get trouble again ask to speak to a manager.

When you book the appointment, put in the notes that you are still having battery issues after prev. appointment and need a battery replacement under the program.
