earth, for now.
Hi fellow Macrumor buddies,

As the title describes, I have some inquiring questions and comments.

I just recently purchased the iPhone 5, and it's a nice upgrade from my iPhone 4, from 2.5 years ago (roughly).

It's been only a few days, and I'm having some concerns that I would like to engage with you folks.

I left my house today at around 12:30, and it is currently 5pm local time. My iPhone was charged at 95%, and it is currently at 58%. I have the wifi off, I turned location services off, Bluetooth is off. Within this time frame I have used my phone anywhere between 15-20 times to check email and reply to text messages. My screen brightness is also down to about 30% or so.

Now I do have the LTE/4G on, where my phone uses 4G in my area, as LTE is not here yet.

Is this normal battery usage for the little bit time I have spent using t during those hours?

Any comments, suggestions?

turn LTE off.. you'll still get atts "4g"
if lte is on..and there is no LTE..its searching for LTE.

With speedtest.net app

LTE on

First test 67ms
1187.5 down and 308 up

Second test 61ms
988.2 down and 319 up

Third test 58ms
987.8 down and 279.2 up

LTE off

First test 93 ms
576.1 down and 151.2 up

Second test 119ms
296.1 down and 213.2 up

Third test 92 ms
268.8 down and 241.6 up

Now... I am aware that we do not have bell LTE in Fredericton new Brunswick Canada, it is my understanding that we get 4g connection. Whenever I have LTE switched in or off, in the top left corner it's always saying 3G... This is normal?!

whoa.. not sure for your carrier APN.

thats really lame they have LTE/hspa+ on the same toggle.

Turing off "Set Automatically" in Date & Time helped me a LOT. Try that.

I am curious...

I was told by a friend not to charge the iPhone through USB from a computer and that to charge it from the wall unit as I will get a longer charge? Does that make sense to anyone?

Also... Would it matter if I used the wall charger for my iPad? Or should I just use the small cube that came with my phone? I've been using my iPad charger...

After being charged to 100% with the original wall charger,

My iPhone is now at 65% and in the settings, general, usage, it says 2 hrs 18 minutes in usage... Hmmm

No, a charge is a charge.
