what are these "stains" you guys talk about in regards to the white iphone color? Had a white iphone 4s for almost a year and sold it today for $350, it looked brand new. Nothing ever stained

Would love to get black, but the re-sell value of the white w/o all the scratches would probably be more since it shows less wear and tear....that is whenever i re-sell it

This has been discussed to death !

Are people just thinking hmmm what thread topic can I resurrect because a new iPhone is being released !

I looked for a similar thread and couldn't find one - and I won't search through thousands of older threads just for that. I need a new iPhone 5 and am looking for feedback on the colors, that's all.

Absolutely agree! the white never shows stains, unless you are dropping that thing in your dinner or getting sauce all over it.

Mine has never stained, and it doesn't show up scratches, the black is just too fragile in terms of wear and tear imo.

White is just right. For me anyway

I think the black iphone 5 (and people are going to kill me here) looks too much like all the other black phones out there. The shiny silver logo is now gone and it just looks more generic. The white just pops more. It's noticeable.

Although I do think the black looks classy as hell! The white and black - design wise, should of been more unique imo.

If there is one thing I loathe, it's fingerprints! and the black will need polishing to death unless it's covered in a case 24/7

Slate will show silver under the anodized part. Silver hides them much, much better.

The anodized finish of that iPod is a lesser quality compared to what the new iPhone is said to be constructed from. Apple went with the same materials as the MacBook Pro line. It's a higher quality anodized aluminum that shouldn't scratch through the coloring too easily.

Of course if scratches do make it through the coloring then silver should hide markings better than black. I'm hoping the phone is similar to what I'm thinking it is. I have a few anodized items that don't show any loss of color and they're 8+ years old.

I had a black iPhone 4 for 16 months that still looked brand new. I got the white iPhone 4s and within 3 months it looked dirty. The area around the glass is always picking up lint and dust. I have to use a bumper if I don't want it to look bad. I will not be buying white again anytime soon. The black may show more scratches but I always use a case and or screen protector so I don't have any problems.

The coating around the button on my black iPhone 4 wore down/off within the first 3 months. It's in a very noticeable semi-circle shape. Drives me nuts. Gonna give the white one a try

What are you guys doing to your phones to mess the finish up that badly?

Mine gets greasy, sure but I've never had a home button wear off. If it picks up some lint or dust around the screen I'll take the case off and clean it. Total time, 1 minute every month or so.

That being said, I got the white because I've never had a white phone before, and I think it looks classy. And yes, I'm a dude.

I was wondering the same thing, like what the hell are you people doing with your phones that they're getting "stained"? Yikes. My white 4S that I've had since launch looks brand new.

White turns the home button yellow over time. it can be cleaned, but it shows dirt and dust easier. To me, a scratch is a scratch. If I can see it, I don't care if others notice it. It still drives me crazy.

I hope those who get white enjoy it as well!!!

I will, and thanks. LuV my White iPhone. :D

I think it all depends. Lady I work with has had her White iPhone for 2 years and the home button looks as White as my 3 week old White 4S home button. That said, none of my Black iPhones got any scratches on them.

White. Since everyone will be buying black :)

I have a feeling most people tend to buy the color apple shows the most on their site/ads. This time they are showing off black a lot. Last time they were showing off white and tons of people got white.
