had a black 3g, 3gs and 4, white 4S, but for the first time im not sure whether to go white or black....think im going to have to see them in person to make the final decision...will probably be white but i do love the black finish to the antenna band on the black version, makes it all seem more consistent.

People who have had white iPhones. Does dirt and debris get stuck in between the home button and the edge of the glass/plastic? That's my only concern, since it's white, it'll show trapped stuff more easily.

No doubt the white unit will show dirt way better. You will need to spend a little ore time to keep it clean. Black is good for me, have already ordered my CaseMate barely there for the iP5 in black.

Black. It's looks a lot better than White.

But I don't want to deter those wanting White because I want to make sure there's more black in stock ;)

The black renderings look better. If the phone looked identical to the renderings, I'd purchase black, but since they don't, I'm getting white. White is a jewel.

I have never been this torn on which color to get on anything!

On one hand, the black one has that awesome slate color on the aluminum and back, but the white one also has that nice champagne silver style going for it (at least on the Apple renders ;)). If the white one still had black plastic bands I'd go for the black, but I'm so torn.

I am going black because I had a white previously. I think keep the white one clean is harder. Being a little OCD I hate the fact that I can see dirt around the home button or around other areas. Plus the "darker' screen seems to blend in with the screen is off.

A great point for those of us that take lots of photos. Go black.

Do you take lots of photos THROUGH WINDOWS?! Geez, what a ridiculous post.

I think the white is actually easier to keep clean because you don't see the fingerprints and smudges all over it, other than the screen.

I've never had a piece of dust or dirt around the home button on 2 white iPhones and 2 white iPads.

I have white 4s and it is really clean, but I think that I'm going to buy the iPhone 5 in black, just to change.

I've never had such a hard time deciding...

I'm afraid of white showing dirt more.

Then after reading another thread here about scratches (and silver showing through) on the black, I'm afraid of that too.

When I saw the keynote, I thought white all the way...

Then I saw the promo video and the black looked so slick...

I think I'll be deciding at the last minute!

Dirt is always easier to get rid of than scratches.

I do agree on you with the tones but the white one has a pretty slick transition too.

I was thinking of switching to white for one reason: Last summer I used my black iPhone outside a lot in the sun and it got really hot. I wonder if the white version wouldn't get so hot in the sun. Crazy?

Having had both, the white iPhone is definitely cooler in the sunlight. But honestly, you shouldn't be keeping any electronics in that direct of sunlight to where it gets too hot.

People complaining about the White one is hard to get cleaned -

Cons black
-The black one shows scratches much better
-The black one shows fingerprints much better
-The antenna and the black doesnt look good together.

Pros black
-If you're watching a movie the color blends in with the movie (often darker movies).
-Nice back with the gray overlay to black.

Cons white
-Dirt is shown better (easy to clean off tho)

Pros white
- Doesnt show fingerprints
- Doesnt show scratches very easily
- Clean color.
- Shining.

I've decided.

White again.

I know some of you were eagerly awaiting my decision. :D

I think I'm just going to get white, and if I hate it, sell it when the next one comes out, or just put a case on it and ignore it.

I love the shimmering quality that at some angles blends in with the white, shimmers, and then goes to a super-light matte silver. Plus then no worries about big ugly scratches.

White for me, black for my partner (he'll be fine with either but just so I can tell mine apart).
