my god that's terrible! I wonder how many units are affected? maybe the aluminium is too soft? was it like that out of box?

Canberra now has an Apple store? Dman I have been away for a while.

Really disappointed how badly the black ones loose their paint. My phone has arrived in the office, have not oponed it, but having owned PVD/DLC watches that were black I know it can be very resistant to scratching, but it sounds like apple were tightarses and went for the cheapest solution possible, and hence the paint is coming off within a day... this sucks. Really do not want to swap to a white one.

Why is scratching a phone such a big deal? Its not a rare and expensive Ferrari, so why worry about it?

Maybe Apple should use diamonds or titanium for the next iPhone... That should be scratch proof.

i think it's more along the line off you are paying for a new phone that doesn't look really new. It's like someone reselling a refurbish iphone as new.

There is no way the anodized surface will remain looking like it came out of the box for very long.

It is really common sense. The edges will turn silver rather quickly so cope with it. I will still take black over white!:rolleyes:

let the OCD posts begin!:p

Are you kidding? these are much worse looking in real life, and for $899 i deserve to bitch about this! for that much money for a phone, i want it as it should be. If it WAS plastic i bet there wouldnt be imperfections like this, once again, this is a $900 phone, not a $500 or less, i think we all deserve quality, not anodising wearing off after 4 hours in a pocket.. i hope your joking..:rolleyes:

btw, their an awesome phone besides these imperfections. my iphone 4 was perfect in every way, and the included headphones with the 5 are amazing for what they are, very impressive!

I also want to add we bought 2 phones, so thats laying down just under $2000 for 2 phones. Yes, all my friends think we are nuts lol

its the ferrari of phones. really what kind of analogy is that? how many things go into a phone and a 100k+ car...

it should be more durable then a few hrs and already showing wear.

Agree, mine was online so will check once arrives.

Once customers get home is store bought and find flaws there less likely to return it as they just want to keep it by then or have the "it's not too bad really" syndrome :(

Awesome! Plus I always get Apple care starting from iPhone 4. Peace of mind.
