I love my iPhone 5. But this is so annoying, you can easily see that little spot on a white piece of paper or on a white wall, there is a bigger spot too to the left of the little one actually.

Would Apple replace my phone if I take it to the apple store? I bought it from Apple Online and do not have AppleCare. But my 1 year warranty is still valid.

Please help

I think they will.

And btw this problem becomes more more I see

At first I only see the little one, then a little bit later I discovered the left side bigger one. I afraid it will grow more and more spots.

----------

It's a known issue, apple replaced my iPhone 2 weeks ago for exactly the same thing.

I need to register for the genius bar before I go or I can just walk in and talk to somebody? Do you have applecare for yours?

I've had three iphone 5's. all have had dust in the camera. Thankfully my third one don't show it in the pictures but the first two looked exactly like yours, both were replaced with no struggle, but good luck getting one that doesn't have this problem. Your one year warranty will cover it.

Ive had this same problem. It didnt bother me at first but it just got worse. Im on my fourth replacement all for dust. They always say they can clean it but after they take it in the back they usually come back with a replacement.

Ive always needed an appointment

theres 45039 other threads on this. make a genius bar appointment. show them the phone. they will either clean the lense or if they determine they cant, they will replace it.

Depends entirely on how busy the apple store in your area is. My question is, why NOT make an appointment? You can do it right from your phone at your convenience.

agreed. 9/10 times, the store where i live is so busy that even people waiting for their appointment end up waiting even longer. and i see people turned away alot for not having one simply due to they are already backlogged with appointments as it is. i suggest making one.

Should I restore my jailbroken iPhone before going? Will they refuse to replace it if its jailbroken?
I know the issue isn't cause by jailbreaking

Thigh clearly state on their website that jail breaking voids the warranty. So yes, restore.

I had it with my iPhone 4, was only a month away until the 5 was released but gave it to a friend who then went and got it replaced, so should be fine.

There's obviously a problem so the decision is up to you. Suffer with it or make a Genius appointment, undo the JB and take the iPhone into Apple. I know which one I'd choose. :)

It's more than likely bad camera, dust can cause it sure but not always.

Being that they don't do modular repair on rear camera module, they'll replace the iPhone if its not dust.

Had a friend with multiple dots on their iPhone 5, the Genius Bar just replaced it.

there have been two types of camera issues here.

1.) the one the OP has, which looks like a piece of dust either inside the camera or just under the outer lens.

and

2.) those small purple dots that look more like imperfections in the actual lens itself.

the one the OP has, looks similar to what i had on my original phone. the apple genius was able to clean the inside of the lens and all was well. however, the purple dots are inside the module itself, and the whole phone is replaced. its up to apple, chances are they will just replace it. i dont see why this discussion is even dragging out this long. get it replaced.

i was 2.5 weeks out of warranty when 2 spots showed up.
apple refused to replace the phone despite how many people have this problem. i even showed him the complaints on this site and he even admitted to having many people come in either for this problem or the other problem with the stringy thing in photos. he said there is nothing they can do other than to offer a brown box refurb for $279
