APPLE's website quotes a maximum continuous power of 205 and 310 watts for the 21.5" and 27" models respectively.

I see your point5 and thank you for it.

But . . .

1. I saw the watt ratings for the 2011 iMacs on the Apple website. But I was not sure if watts can be converted into watt-hours. Some math wiz will probably tell us how to do this I'm sure. Thanks in advice if anyone can, I'd really appreciate it.

2. The iMac is so not the average desktop computer in terms of power consumption. One of the main reasons I even consider iMacs as a purchase.

Really that cheap? I would have thought more than that a week. Im in the UK though, so im not sure how much a difference elec bills would be.

Currently pay around £1000 a year here.

Refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioning are the things that make up the majority of peoples electric bills.

Probably the most useless and irrelavent article I've read in a while. My drive to work (12 miles) in one day uses more "energy" than my iphone will ever use. Is this trying to make me feel bad that we have iphones?

This wasn't useless, it's nice to know. Particularly what other devices like the X-Box, laptops, and desktop use.

This is Macrumors, so perhaps you were feeling defensive and thought that Apple was being attacked, considering that if anything such little bit of money would make people feel good about the using the iPhone. And it has according to some of the comments.

A desktop PC costs $30 a year? Ha! I worked mine out to be around $70-$120 a quarter, and I only use it for gaming, otherwise it's asleep.

$20/0.41 = 50

Average usage 10 hours

10 X 60 minutes = 600 minutes

600/50 = 12 minutes

What do you do, short circuit the battery to drain the battery that fast:rolleyes:

Or have superduper LTE:eek:

Thanks Mathlete

The point was the battery sucks and I have to charge it too often

But your equations really clarify things}

Super helpful

Well played

Bragging about 41 cents only to charge the iPhone??? And then comparing 41-cent cost to the cost of running a 200-pound refrigerator?????
ROTFLMAO.
Here's how to "intelligently" charge "any" phone for zero cent cost.
PLUG/CHARGE IT IN YOUR CAR.
Now if you know how to run a fridge for 41 cents a year then please bring it on and brag about it.

Phones, which are small, and have no moving parts, require less energy than much bigger desktops and laptops!

>_> This is surprising how?
