Has anyone had the issue of their iPhone 5 not charging while actively using Personal Hotspot? Currently, I have my iPhone plugged into the wall and have 3 active Personal Hotspot connections and my phone does not charge. Is this normal?

Yes, you're using more energy than can be replenished with charging.

What do you mean it's not charging? Is there no electric bolt in the battery Icon?

Or is it that even though it appears to be charging the battery is still depleting?

I've had this issue on my 4S and resolved it by closing all running apps (double-press home button then tap and hold on apps). This may or may not work on a 5.

Depends on the computer. Most current-generation macs (and even my late-2009 Mac mini) will pump out the voltage needed to charge and iPad and an iPhone 5 running personal hotspot.

I meant that although there is an electric bolt in the battery icon, the iphone is still depleting.

I closed some apps, restarted my iphone, and it seemed to resolve itself then and allow for the battery to replenish while tethering 3+ devices.

plugged into my cars usb which delivers 2.1 amps mine charges while my 3 kids are all on my hotspot

that is ridiculous. It won't burst into flames. It'll just charge faster.

First of all it was a joke, sort of. 2nd, have you ever felt what the phone feels like while wifi tethering? Have you ever felt what it feels like while charging from an ipad charger?

Combine those 2 and its not something i'd want to be dealing with.

Then don't. In the meantime, it's wise to use the higher watt charger of the iPad (10w or 12w depending) while pushing the power of the device.

That's your choice but the ipad charger is officially listed compatible on Apples site with the iphone.
Your statement that it will catch on fire is absurd.

Is your screen on? Turning off the screen will still maintain your hotspot connection.

[doublepost=1458842660][/doublepost]I am having this same issue with my iPhone 5. I don't have any solution for this problem though. If you find an answer please reply.
