iphone 5 dropped in toilet works fine

It was dropped in a clean water toilet (completely submerged) and immediately removed, turned off, and carefully vacuumed all openings with a dyson then left in a bag of rice for 4 days. I just plugged it in to try to back it up real quick and it works fine. Even the water sensor stickers didn't change color. How is that possible?!

Glad to hear it's OK. During a quick dunk water doesn't necessarily get into all the openings.

Even after you boiled it to sanitize it?:D

Or, maybe you just wiped it off with some used TP?:D

Had a case and screen protector on it the body was all covered, the bottom edge was the only exposed part, but it def got totally submerged. I'm blessed, super happy

Sounds like it was quick enough and the case/ air pockets saved you.

Generally, this is where I'd usually say that a submerged phone is still dead after recovery and that it just doesn't know it yet, but, if your sensors are still white, you should be good to go.

Be grateful and buy a lotto ticket tonight.

Too bad your liquid sensors are shot/triggered. You won't be getting a replacement in the event something goes wrong.

Definitely great luck! Where are the liquid sensor stickers located?

Hopefully you weren't peeing. I don't know what I'd do if I dropped it in there when I was peeing LOL.

I read a lot, I'm also a former Genius. They'll be able to tell. Keep drumming Craig.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

If his liquid indicators haven't triggered, how will they know? Will they open the phone up and look for corrosion? Good luck proving liquid damage with liquid indicators showing white.

Already called and they said to bring it in and I can do an out of warranty replacement. Said because it fell in a toilet they won't even look at it, just replace. Besides all this, wouldn't a supposed "former apple genius" know that apple care and squaretrade cover water damage. What a bozo.

Depends on the store and the genius. If you were in my store, you'd be out of luck. We never covered the "idiot clause". You also never mentioned squaretrade or AppleCare+. Those are kind of key points to the story. What a bozo.

All joking aside, you did everything right (except dropping it in a toilet, of course!) and were one of the few who actually got to reap the benefits of it (not having to buy a new phone.)
