iPhone 5 --> Galaxy S4, how much internal storage do I need?

I've only had iPhones and have always had the 16GB version with no real issues. I usually am just under max storage, but am wondering if I should go for the 16 or the 32 with the S4. So, I'm wondering how my usage/storage needs may change with Android and if the SD card will provide the extra storage I need, if I just stick with the 16GB model.

Any advice on this? Anything I should consider I may not be aware of? I understand there are some things that cannot be stored on the SD card? Help appreciated.

You should be fine with 16gb, but if you plan on having a ton of heavy games installed, I'll go for the 32gb.

On my 16gb S3, I have 6.39gb available internal space left. I only have about four games installed which two of them are more than 1gb in size. Mostly everything else is on my 64gb card.

    I plan on getting the 32gb or 64gb S4.

Should be fine with 16 on Android then. But only you can tell for sure.

How is your usage divided on the iPhone now.... music, apps, camera roll, etc?

Photos and video on the S4 can go straight to memory card, so you can subtract that out. If you want to load music on your S4 it can go to memory card too. So you really are left with mostly apps in main memory.

Also, generally Android apps run a bit smaller than their iOS equivalents.

Seems to me 16GB S4 would be fine for you.

I keep all of my music on my phone and a few pictures. On the iPhone at least, I don't really have many games just because I prefer my ipad for that with the larger screen. I'm not sure how that might change with the S4. The only time I have memory problems is when I'm on vacation, I like to take video, which eats up space. Then I end up having to make room.

You will definitely be fine with 16GB S4.

Music and photos and can go to a memory card so that is a big savings right there compared to the iPhone. A 64GB memory card for around $50 and you will have gobs of room--heck you could get by with 32GB.

Just get the most you could afford so you don't regret it later.

I relegated a 16GB microSD card to media storage and leave the internal storage for apps and camera data.

just remember, if by any chance youre using spotify they disabled the option to store the music on the external sd card, which is outrageous seeing as most people only have 16gb internal storage and have to upgrade to at least a 32gb internal memory phone if they want to continue storing all their playlists offline.

if you root your phone you can store everything on the sd card so if you're not going to do that id get the 32gb because you cant put everything on the sd card otherwise.

Id get the 16GB phone and put an SD Card in, the larger files like music/pictures/videos can be stored on the SD Card, I doubt you'd fill 16GB with just Apps.

I've got to agree with the rest that 16gb is more than enough coupled with an SD card.

Services like Google Music can save more space if you're in a position to stream your songs over 3G and wifi. You can "pin" some tracks onto your device whilst you're without data but if you do this via Google Music it'll automatically store them onto the internal memory and any cached music will also be on internal storage too. (I wish there was a way to put the cache on external storage eaily).

I also find Android apps typically are smaller in size. But I would still go with the largest you can easily afford. It will have a higher resale and you won't regret getting to small.

16gb seems fine since you have the options of sd storage (music and photos/videos).

32gb will be playing safe plus if you want to resell in the future im sure will grant better money :)
