Hi,

I have an iPhone 5 which I bought a couple of months back and my headphone jack was working until today. I plugged in an Aux cable which was for my external speakers and then a blue screen came up on my iPhone and my iPhone rebooted by itself. Now when I plug in any of my headphones into the headphone jack, I hear weird crackling and buzzing noises when trying songs on a low volume. However, it does seem to work fine on maximum volume and them if I lower it back down to low volume or medium volume, it works fine for a couple of seconds or minutes. Can someone please give me suggestions on what I should try now?

Thanks in advance.

According to its performance "It works fine when turn on maximum volume", I judge that your iPhone's headphone jack was broken.
It is easy to solve this problem, just change a brand new iPhone 5 headphone jack, this part is very cheap.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try that. Although I am still looking at my options to get it replaced under warranty but as I'm in Pakistan, that won't be easy so I'll instead give this a go.

I am having the exact same issues. Lots of digital noise in the background. Pops, bangs, sound missing in one ear, turning the sound all the way up seems to sort it but then turning the sound back down moves the sound over to the other ear. Definitely not the Earpods as I've tried multiple headphones as well as verifying that everything I've used for testing works on other devices. Just tried the factory restore yet the issue persists. This is on a 32gb 5S.

Just call Applecare in your country - they should be able to help.

Hi, I am having the exact same problem. I replaced the headphone jack charging cable and it made no difference. Did you ever find a solution? Thanks

I have the exact same issue except that maximum volume for me makes my ear pods either go mute or completely loud to the point where they sound like they will explode, dangerous to have in your ear. It is pretty loud and works fine on very little volume. I have replaced the part but the issue still persists. I have read on an apple forum that broken screens may place unnecessary pressure on the audio jack, which in my case my screen isn't in perfect condition. I am replacing it soon, but I don't see it being the main problem. I have reset my phone, restored from back up. Nothing has worked and my ear pods are not the issue either. They work perfectly on my computer. The only time I get audio in both ears is if I slightly plug in the ear pods into the jack, just before they click. It's still loud on low volume but sound comes in clearly through both sides. Idk if this can be due to the elevation of the audio jack, such as missing washers to screws. I'm just lost and can't find an answer anywhere.
