There is much speculation that Apple is working on a new generation iPhone to take the place of the only recently released iPhone 4. The speculation is that because of the iPhone 4 antenna issue, Apple might push out the iPhone 5 as early as January 2011.

Will you get the Iphone 5...even though you just got the Iphone 4?

Do you think Apple will release Iphone 5 in Jan?

{all polls/votes are for Jan 2011 and not for 2010}

thread now moved to:

as dates of the poll were incorrect should be 2011 instead of 2010

Honestly, if it did come out, I'll sell my iP4 on eBay and get the new one. Heck, Android comes out with a new phone every 2 months and always screws over their customers.

Iphone 5 in Jan 2010

Wow..that was quick...already responses from people and i just finished posting the poll...this is looking one HOT thread!...

This is latest rumour...regarding the Iphone 5.....or would it be Iphone HD, or Iphone pro...bigger screen...to match the androids...AMOLED screen to match the samsung...or just a tweek in the antenna and 4g network?

27-1 No is winning by a slight landslide.

I wouldn't be upset since it is easy to resell an iPhone, but I would be shocked if they do. If they release a new one it will just be a new version of 4 more compatible with a new service provider.

Everyone that voted that it is not being released this Jan already has the iphone 4. And they would probably start crying and have a heart attack if the iphone 5 comes out so soon.

This thread and poll is worthless and means nothing

This would be PR nightmare x2 for Apple. First of all, most people who suffered through you're-holding-it-wrong 2010 will be rather upset that, in fact, they weren't. But then what? People buy a "new" iPhone 4.5 (since fixing an antenna and going to Verizon hardly justify changing everything again, again) are six months from WWDC WTFdom.

Just not feasible, not reason to bring up the bad memories again.

EDIT: Where is the option to buy an iPhone 5 next June (when it will be released)?

Sad thing is. Even if they did release a new iphone Jan 2011, Apple would knowingly piss off the 3+ million that bought the IP4. Those people (myself included) would piss and moan, cry foul and curse Apple to no end. Ultimately, probably a good percentage of those "pissed off" would probably get the new iPhone anyways....myself included.

Hopefully they won't since I don't want to go through the hassle of getting a new one, ditching mine, syncing, blah blah blah. IF they did, they would undoubtedly have to make some sort of restitution to the current IP4 owners in one way, shape or form. And another free case wouldn't cut it this time.

no iphone 4 in jan... you think apple had a PR problem with the antenna issue? well see what happens when the 5million + people who JUST bought iphone 4's realize that 2 months later a band new iphone is out.

Nobody even cares about the antena issue anymore it seems like. People who like the phone have it and those who do not like the phone have moved on.

.

What antenna issue ? Is there an antenna issue with the iPhone 4 ??

Spill your guts, NOW !!

.

That's because the "issue" was largely one of sheer fabrication, wrought by the OCD-damaged and hyped by the media.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A306 Safari/6531.22.7)

I'm going with no, it won't. The next one Apple releases will be the White version of the iP4.

Other: ST*U

Come on , just enjoy the phone rather than worrying about when your self-esteem is going to take a dive because the device you think makes you cool is no longer the newest thing on the market.

Considering thousands [millions?] have used their upgrade, i doubt people will spend $400 for a new iPhone after 6 months of the release of the iPhone 4

Seriously i dont know why people make the antenna issue a BIG ********* PROBLEM

Yes i do have the antenna issue but in reality it isnt a real problem, this is coming from a guy that gets 1-2 bars at home

Threads like these make me sad.

Absolutely not. The iPhone 4 is hardly keeping up with demand with international releases, with some countries waiting in the wings still.

Just use the damn thing, bumper or not.

At least here on MR, a good chunk of people seem to upgrade their hardware, be it iPhones or Macs, with each revision.

Also, this rumor could very well be true. With the advances that Android is making, and HP's push for webOS and Win Phone 7 launching, Apple might move the iPhone up to a 6-month lifecycle.
