Phone is about a year old, no issues until a few days ago.

Before I put the phone back in my pocket I click the Lock button at the top. Lately, it works about 50% of the time. Sometimes needing several clicks before actually shutting off.

I've rebooted too. Is the button wearing out? Software glitch? Any ideas?

When I installed iOS 7 beta on my iPhone 5 earlier this summer I noticed this exact problem also, but I couldn't find anyone else who had it.

I've owned every iPhone and the lock button has never given out on me, but I suppose there's a first for everything. I got a 5s though, so I haven't really given it much thought anymore.

Same here (with my 5)... thankfully my 5S is coming soon, but it is very annoying to deal with.

It looks like a common problem when I searched for the issue online. A lot of people have had their phone swapped out at an Apple store. Google "iPhone 5 lock button not working".
