Just been told that O2 called there staff into a meeting yesterday doing prep work for the launch and its this week.

Just sharing what I was told.

I seriously doubt this, this would be a very atypical move for Apple.

O2 staff know as much as we do, did you not see their site last year? No pictures, no info, just a shell that was added to gradually. Just before the 3GS came out I was getting calls from O2 asking me to upgrade and I was the one tellin then there'd be update in a matter of days while they were insisting that there wasn't.

I'd love it, but I'm afraid what we want usually isn't what we get.

I was also told by someone at O2 that the new iPhone would launch today. personally I think they've been smoking a little too much weed, but it'd be good if true as I need to upgrade my 3g pretty soon (battery is dying).

Don't expect it to happen, though... :p

I don't think it will be released before September, Apple likes to launch new phones along with the official release of a new iOS version. All we are getting today isma preview of iOS 5 we probably won't see the actual release until September which is when the new iPhone should be released.

Let's be honest, losing a prototype of an iPhone was a big loss for Apple since they are known to, you know?, not leak things like that. Wouldn't be surprised if they are just being extra careful this year

Everyone, knows somebody, who's told someone about the new, "iPhone" and it's launch.

Lets leave it at that, and we will know more today.

I wish it was true but it's highly unlikely there will be one announced this week.

apple normally release the iPhone in July so I would take that with a fine fine pinch of salt

Except for when they released the first iPhone in June 2007, the iPhone 3GS in June 2009 and the iPhone 4 in June 2010. :p

The only iPhone actually to go on sale in July was the 3G. :D

In the US June. Many other countries on July/august/September.

While I agree with your train of thought here, there is no way Apple would release a new iPhone without giving developers proper time to test and optimize their apps for the new OS. The only way this would happen is if the next iPhone debuts with iOS 4.x - also highly doubtful.

Anyone think an iPhone 5 will be shown today??? I am on deck to get the EVO 3D, but I really think I want to wait on the iPhone 5.

I don't think it'll be shown today, I think you should still wait.

These are just my opinions.
