Well, do you think mailing my iPhone 5 in will be okay then?
I'm just concerned. /: I just cherish my iPhone a lot, I dunno.

What I meant by.. if they care if its from Verizon or not, I mean, will my new iPhone they give me will have the same carrier and number that I had before as long as I put the SIM card in? Is there anything I need to know before mailing my phone in?

I hate calling companies. It takes soooo longggg.

Well if it helps you can chat with Apple on their website. I haven't had much long wait times unless I am calling the night a product was released.
They do not care if it is from Verizon - I am sure they have enough supply. You should back up your phone (preferably iCloud but iTunes works) and then erase and send once you have set it up (do not just mail the phone to Apple without going through the warranty process).
Once you get your replacement (or fixed), simply restore from backup and you should be good to go. Your phone will automatically activate against the VZW network once you restore it.

What's the "warrany process"?

Can't I just do it manually online and have Apple send me a box?

----------

How far are you from an Apple Store?

A 35 minute drive, 30 something miles away.

I had this issue too. They had me take my iPhone right out of my case and did a replacement. Who doesn't have this issue?

At the iPhone hacks section.
There's no damage at all, I just hate how companies like Apple will find any reason to say its the consumers fault.

Can you answer my other questions? Also how long will the entire process take? And lastly, how will Apple know that my iPhone was originally from Verizon? Or does that not matter..?

Why don't we all tell you the same thing 100 times and maybe then you will listen:rolleyes:
No, it doesn't matter where you got it. If you purchased from Verizon, bestbuy or walmart.
If they deny you a replacement they will just send your phone back without any charges.
We don't know what they will say or if they will replace it 100%, that's up to the particular applecare specialists discretion.

I had the same problem with my previous iPhone 4S (which I got replaced at Apple store for $199). I wouldn't work at all that I had to put so much pressure with my fingers my hands would hurt :(

My cousin's iPhone lock button got jammed too but he's had it for just over a year. Would they still replace it?

It all depends on the genius in the apple store. Your best bet is to make an appointment and see what they say.

Went to the Apple store this morning and the genius said he had to order it as it wasn't in store. Fingers crossed if the Genius is going to replace the phone with AWS 3G or not.

Mr.RPG You are really paranoid. Did you really screw something up on the iPhone that you are so scared that they may not give you a new one?

No the phone still looks almost brand new, besides one small scratch near the mute button.

I just know that companies will say anything to make them pay.

My power button is giving me problems too. It works if you press hard on the left side but in the center/right side nothing happens. Pretty annoying. I am tired of going to the Apple store to have these issues fixed. Had a couple flaky home buttons and a bad vibrating switch (did not vibrate at all).

You clearly don't know about Apples customer service then.
And you need to calm down a little, you're way too anxious about it:D

I don't, but compared from my personal experience with ALL other companies, it's been pretty bad. So I don't have much expectations.

By the way, I went to the Verizon store today (it's like a 5 minute drive away) and they told me that if I went to the Apple Store they would give me a brand new iPhone 5 if Apple could not fix it, but that Verizon could ship me out a new refurb phone.. I decided to wait, since I still need to find out if my brother can take me to the Apple Store (about a 40 minute drive to there).

What should I do if I can't go to the Apple Store..? Would shipping the phone to Apple get me a brand new phone or should I just get it from Verizon? Also, what did the Verizon rep mean when he said "if Apple cannot fix it"? Do the people at the Apple Store open up your phone to see if they can fix it?

Man how many questions you have !! Just send the damn thing and see for yourself what happens ! You will get a replaced refurbished phone and will work just as fine as this one used to !

please give me a serious answer :c

where am i more likely to get a good refurb (or even a new phone..?)

And do they FIX the phone, or send me a new one..?

Send it to Apple--they will swap it and give you a refurbished phone--no questions asked,it is a known issue, you will get an exact same phone, color and capacity.

Edit : Just saw you are 30 miles away from the store-go there and get it replaced-get a genius bar appointment,it will take 5 minutes once you are there.

I had the lock/power button issues, so I took it to the apple store and they replaced it without any issues. In fact, the apple care person barely examined it. I guess apple care is familiar with this problem. I wish I waited on exchanging it until I get a confirmed report that they are replacing it with the new revised gsm model that could take full advantage of the tmobile network.:(

I am having a similar problem. I am a T-mo customer and want the revised GSM model and told them that I will live with the issue for now. The so calle genius claimed that no matter when I come back (a month, two months until December when my warranty expires), they are only going to give me the old one.

I took a print out of this:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5720

After looking at the print out, she started saying that this is exactly what I see for replacements. Because I bought it for AT&T unlocked, they will only replace with AT&T model. I tried to explain the change and that the model that is currently on sale for AT&T is the exact model for T-mo and that it has AWS 3G but she kept insisting that I will only get AT&T.

I told her I will take a chance by coming next month or two until I get a unit with AWS WCDMA on it.

One thing I observed is the device that she was trying to give me was not the one from the new lot as it didn't have the whole packaging. That iPhone packaging just has the phone indicating that it is not from the same lot as that of new ones.
