I'm looking at purchasing an iPhone 5 that is locked to Open Mobile Puerto Rico for use in Canada. I'm aware that the device is locked to Open Mobile in the US Territory Puerto Rico, but I read that it is unlocked for international use.

I'm also aware that there are SIM interposers (RSIM, Gevey, etc), but I wish to stay away from these as they are unreliable in my experience.

Has anyone tried using an iPhone locked to Open Mobile internationally?

Ask your carrier.
If it really is unlocked for international use then any GSM sim outside the US will work.
If its not unlocked at all then you can ask them to unlock it or try to purchase an imei unlock if they have it available for your carrier.

I would ask Open Mobile, but they're a Puerto Rican carrier that only has Spanish support.

Then if you cant ask the carrier and not sure if the phone is internationally unlocked or locked to only that carrier then I wouldn't buy the phone.
But up to you what you want to risk with your money;)

That's why I'm here. There might be someone here who knows about this. If you have no information, please don't reply to this thread ;).

Don't reply to this thread?
With this attitude nobody will.
Good luck wasting your time and money:D
Please don't, I'm only looking to know whether I can use it internationally or not. This isn't helping me nor anyone that may stumble upon this thread in the future.
