I've done the calculations. It has to be iPhone 6. Here's why.

1. iPhone
2. iPhone [3G]
3. iPhone [3GS]
4. iPhone 4
5. iPhone [4S]

They didn't start naming it until they got to the iPhone 4 because they didn't have to. It was just called the iPhone. It was 3G.

Now, if they named it iPhone 5, that would be going against their trend. They never have misnamed an iPhone. They never will. When they did it with the 4, it was the 4th one. So they can't do it with the 5.

In my calculations, the most likely outcome will be this.

iPhone 6G.

A second likely choice for the less optimistic is this.

iPhone 4G.

It's one of the two.

At least it should be called "iPhone"

Hopefully today's naming of "iPad" puts the iPhone number naming scheme to rest. Just "iPhone" makes perfect sense. Not 5, not 6 or 8.4. iPhone. Well done Apple. :)
