Iphone 5 rear camera problem.

Let me get straight to the point.

1. Purple dot on rear camera + a fiber (hairlike) thing on the camera

2. out of warranty



Options:

1. 269$ for a new phone @ apple

2. If I bought my own part (40$ rear camera on ifixit) will it solve my problem?

I think that devices with the purple flare problem were replaced for free, but I'm not sure.

did you just notice this now and waited until you were out of warranty to do something about it?

its a hardware issue and you will likely need a new camera module and fix it yourself. sure beats the $250 replacement. those purple dots are inside the module itslef and cant be "cleaned" off the lens.

Correct, so 40$ will beat 269. I did not wait till I was out of warranty. I picked up the 5s recently and gave this phone to my girlfriend. Even when I gave it to her, there were absolutely no problems. We did not notice till this week. 😡
