iphone 5 stopped recognising email password

    I bought a used iphone 5 a few months ago. It works fine and I'm pleased with it, but now my btinternet mail arrives to me OK - but when I try to send email out I get an error message that the user name or password is incorrect - but it is correct! I have tried old passwords, deleted the account, powered off then on and entered the details again - same problem.My emails work perfectly on my laptop and de3sktop, and my gmail account works OK on my iphone. So, if anyone has any suggestions I would be grateful.

    If you have already rebooted your phone and that did not fix it, I would delete the email account completely and put it in again.

    Did it used to work and suddenly stopped working or has it never worked?
