Some of the best photographers only use a 5-8mp camera on their DSLR. Anything past 5 and it's very hard to see the difference in a photo unless you're blowing it up to a poster size picture.

5 is great, 6,7,8 would be better and a very good sensor can make all the difference in the world.

For most of us, we use our iPhone as a everyday let me capture the moment camera. I like to create albulms and photo books so a bump in mp is welcome but I hope the sensor is going to get better also.

No matter what, we all hope to have a better iPhone 5. Let's just hope we see it in 2011 and do not have to wait till 2012!

This is one of those rumors I heard as far back as last year. And yes, I already heard Sony was involved over OmniVision.

Their CyberShot K-series were some of the best cameraphones back in 2005-2006. I think the SE K790/800 was an amazing cameraphone for its day. I think Nokia surpassed them with N82 and N8 during the last 3-4 years because of Carl Zeiss, adding a stronger Xenon flash, and better sensors.

This is one of those "upgrades" I don't really care for and would NOT put in my top 3 wishlist for my next phone. Digital zooming is pointless to me. Give me true optical zoom and Xenon flash with a lens cover if I am looking for a better cameraphone. I don't even use 5MP on my P&S. More like 3MP or less to save space and I don't print these pictures big anyway. I owned a N82 for 2.5 years. The camera was its biggest selling point and it was great at it. But I hardly used that feature. I used it more for calling (reception was excellent), music, web browsing, and games. Maybe during those first few months I enjoyed the camera before the luster wore off.

I always have a laugh when it's a guy that says "size doesn't matter.".......lol....
