    Hi,

So - I've been reading around on how the news is regarding the iPhone 5 jailbreak.
One thing I can't figure out is how different sites states that the 4S can't be jailbroken. But some are. I dont get that. And also, how come the 4S wasn't jailbroken in months? Thats crazy. And another thing - how can the 5 be jailbroken within the 24 hours? Even with a new connector (the lightning one), it would be even harder.

I can't understand these things. And btw, why not release the jailbreak for the crowd? Paul already posted proof of the iPhone 5 being jailbroken , so I dont see the problem here.

The 4S was jailbroken within hours of its release as well. The reason why the jailbreak cannot be released now is that people of lesser intelligence may not be able to comprehend the procedure or it requires the redistribution of Apple's copyrighted code. The iPhone 4S can be jailbroken, but only on iOS 5.0, 5.0.1, and 5.1.1. It may be jailbroken on iOS 6.0 as well, but no jailbreak is available for use at this time.

Jailbreaking releases are much more specific and detailed than how you are currently viewing the jailbreak community. The 4S is jailbreakable but not on 6.0. It's all device and firmware specific. Chpwn has a great and extremely simple website that outlines what devices and which firmwares are jailbreakable. I believe dhlizard, a member her at MR, has a link in his signature to a graph breaking down this same information. I suggest you get familiar with the history of jailbreaking. It's good stuff!

Well. It's hard to understand. I've read several articles - but hey - if we speculate here , How long would it take until we get a public jailbreak for iOS6 for the iPhone 5?

    Should I expect months?

Since they already posted proof of that the ip5 is jailbroken - isnt that a good sign that the ip5 io6 will be available soon for public jb?

The thing is - can I backup photos and stuff from Itunes while having the jb on later?

Cause I feel frozen in place cause I wanna wait for the jb. Now, If I take pictures and store movies on the ip5 now - I'am scared that I can't have it all there when I later on jb when thats available.

Hope that wasn't too hard to read.

They posted pictures of a jailbroken 4S the day it was launched, but the jailbreak didn't come out until January. It all depends on how complex the jailbreak is.

Don't worry about losing anything when/of a jailbreak comes out for the iPhone 5. When it comes out, and so long as you're on the correct firmware, you can usually just jailbreak it. Of course make a backup and save your data in case something goes awry. If that happens, you simply restore, jailbreak, then restore the backup.

    Okay okay.

Im thinking to myself this time around I shouldnt go jailbreak.

I plan on playing it simple this time. Pay for what the appstore has to offer.

Maybe better that way. Besides, its not that expensive.
