Walmart also says customers will be able to pre-order the iPhone 5 at its stores at 8 a.m. local time on Friday, Sept. 14 for $189.97

Pre-orders from Walmart will entail a $25 deposit toward the purchase, and customers will also receive a $4.99 VUDU movie

Not worth it. Walmart screwed up my T-Mobile upgrade, and it was hard calling T-Mobile to fix things. The people there DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING AT ALL.

Sam's Club on the other hand, I have never had problems with. I guess the people who work at Sam's actually do better at their jobs.

i'm not going there myself

just for those that may happen to be there, ya never know......

I got half a dozen iPad2's on launch day from them. Went pretty smooth except the pissed off people in line behind me. :p Not sure how it would work with phone contracts though. I would imagine that if you were paying full price and not having them do the contract end of it there wouldn't be a problem.

GAH you're the reason why there's item limits for people legitimately buying them for a large family!

Meh... I only choose Walmart if I need to buy socks, a bag of Cheetos, underwear & condoms at 3am. Otherwise... I'll let the pros at Apple handle my iPhone order.

Get in line earlier then. I have been in the top 5 in line on release day for every iPhone and iPad. Second in line for iPad2, first in line for iPhone 4. Won't be in line for this one though so you don't have to worry that i'll upset the balance of the universe.

I hate Walmart I'm not giving them a dime.

Time to reframe how it's viewed. Steve Jobs loved WalMart & setup the deal with them, then had iPhone 5 designed to appeal to WalMart customers.

Apples in the mass market retail space now. By the looks of the sales volume Apple & WalMart is a marriage that's ideal.

The "Pro's at Apple" came from Walmart :D

Steve Jobs personally selected WalMart as Apples mass market example of success. One look at how well iPhones sell proves it's working.

Apples in the mass market, offer iPhones for free ... It's a New Era at Apple & it's working well. Steve learned a lot from WalMart.

In California they DO tax you on the FULL amount.

Not at awl-mart. i dont understand why. I watched someone buy a 4s and get charged 95.15 total out the door the other day. (89.98 or whatever plus tax on that price)
they were not charged on unsubsidized price. 2 year contract and all.

Like i said , i dont know why you dont get charged the extra tax.
