That wasn't the question, the question was why does Apple present the information in a way that says: Choose T-Mobile or Choose Sim-Free.

Why not just say: Unlocked iPhone, with optional SIM card?

When I order, I'm not going to choose T-Mobile. I'm just going to choose Unlocked, sim-free. Because I don't want anything to do with a carrier locking me down.

I think the screen shot from #17 makes it clear that the unlocked phone is the unlocked phone, and that you can get a TMobile SIM with it at your option.

It's been real. I hope you get the exact phone you want.

I have lots of experience. In fact, I'm one of the main reasons why Apple had to change their policies on the Unlocked process. My issue was routed straight to Apple engineers.

I know what I'm talking about. And the fact is if you do have a locked carrier phone, even Apple cannot Unlock it.

The fact is, if you buy a phone with any carrier's name attached, you've taken a dangerous risk. Is it really worth the SIM card you probably won't use or can get for free? No. It's just a $800 mistake.

That's RENT. You will be outside sleeping on the ground in a Mc Donald's parking lot.

will you just relax. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE between the sim-free and the tmobile unlocked phone is that the tmobile one comes with a TMOBILE SIM CARD. ITS STILL UNLOCKED. -> ITS NOT LOCKED TO TMOBILE.

AND IT WILL WORK ON ANY NETWORK. ALL VERIZON/ATT/TMOBILE iPhone 5S are the same exact model. It is a world phone by any definition.

The reason it says tmobile is because some people want a phone that already has a sim card so they can call and activate it when they get it, instead of having to drive to a store to go buy a sim card. The phone is still unlocked lol. THere is no risk. Nobody charges $850 for a locked phone. Now if you paid $400, then yes it would be locked, because thats the subsidized price.

And lets say for arguments sake that the phone is locked to tmobile. If you pay the full unsubsidized price for the phone, Tmobile would unlock it for you anyways, and then it would work on almost any GSM network worldwide.

And wow, the website even says "unlocked and contract free" and at the bottom "when you travel worldwide, insert any SIM...blah blah"

Not that you are wrong but during the iphone 4 days i used to be in med school in india and i wanted the iphone 4 badly but the price was upwards $1500 in the grey market. I asked my grand parents in usa to get it for me coz there was a contract free option available which i thought would be unlocked. Prices were 599 for 16gb and so on. They got me the 32gb iphone 4 off contract and when i received it it was locked :| . Used it as an ipod and to show off for few months :p That wait for unlock from the iphone dev team was horrible. I had a shiny new iphone which only 1-2 other from my class had and i could not use it and finally sold it when the gevey came out. But coming to current situation that's gone and it's for everyone's good !!! :)

im not 100% sure but back then apple didn't sell unlocked versions of the iPhone 4 in the USA. I think they were all locked to ATT because it was still the exclusive carrier at the time.

Yeah. However they used to sell off-contract phones. They were still locked to at&t. But you had to pay 599 for the 16gb version. I thought they were unlocked and got it and got stuck. They even sold off contract 3gs. Here :

so in any case, that doesn't apply today, because today, Apple sells unlocked phones meant to work on any GSM network.

If you check the website now, you can no longer get an unlocked phone and the T-Mobile phone is locked to T-Mobile, just like I said.

Oops. :eek::p

Well good thing I went and bought the T-Mobile unlocked version today and it turned out to be UNLOCKED just as advertised. Also just like I said it would be. Works with both my AT&T and T-Mobile sim cards. So from now on please stop spouting nonsense if you don't know what you're talking about.

Tmobile iphone works on at&t

I can 100% confirm that the t-mobile version I bought ($749- 32gb, white) works on at&t. I did a side by side ookla speed test using the app and both phones are getting the exact same speeds.

Again, the tmobile phone is NOT locked, it simply comes with a tmobile sim card. That's all. I hope this is the last post to this thread.

Are there any Tmobile apps on it?

I am also researching. There are two GSM models, e.g. for 16G iPhone 5C below. Not sure if this helps...

Model A1532: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 13, 17, 19, 20, 25)

Model A1529: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); FDD-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20); TD-LTE (Bands 38, 39, 40)
