I have a iphone 5c. I had pandora playing. i locked it and then a few minutes later i unlock it to check my text messages and all of the sudden it freezes when i click on my messages. i then lock it and after that the screen wouldn't unlock and screen stayed black. pandora was still playing and i can lower the volume of the music. I can also hear when i would plug my charge to phone. Was told it was just replacing the screen. I would try the power and home buttons to reset it but i have no home button. my screen is also cracked but not really bad. any input would be appreciated before i spend money on a new screen

If you don't have iCloud lock on, you could plug it into iTunes and use it to restore the phone and therefore force a reset. Might be worth seeing if you can find a combo screen and home button. You could also look around on eBay for some "for parts only" listings and then combine your working phone part with its working screen part.

You could also let it power down until the battery hits 0 and then plug it in. That would also cause a reset.

EDIT: I guess if you feel comfortable enough with opening it up, you'll probably also be comfortable with removing the battery plug, which would also take care of your resetting issue.
