iPhone 5C, Netflix and HDMI adapter

I'm experiencing an annoying issue with Netflix not autoplaying the next episode on my iPhone 5C when hooked up to the TV. any ideas how to get it to work? Its fine on the Xbox, Apple TV and iPad, the setting on Netflix is to allow it.

The reason I'm watching this way rather than doing anything via hotspot I'd I have unlimited data, but tethering is capped.

Additionally airplaying Netflix from the iPhone to the Apple TV seems to be too temperamental.

I do not believe the iPhone version of the app support autoplay. I have my setting set to that for when we watch on the TV but when I am on the ellptical at the gym it never auto plays. I have to manually click the "play next episode" button.
